What is Health at Every Size® (HAES)?

Health at Every Size® (HAES) is a weight-inclusive and body-positive therapeutic approach that focuses on promoting health and well-being for our patients, rather than prescribing weight loss or pursuing an ideal body shape. HAES aims to foster body acceptance, encourage intuitive eating, and cultivate self-compassion, providing a supportive and nurturing environment for our patients to develop a healthier relationship with food, their bodies, and themselves. By challenging societal expectations and internalized beliefs about body size and shape, HAES helps our patients prioritize overall mental and physical health, independent of weight.

Our Approach to Health at Every Size® (HAES)

We understand that each individual’s needs and experiences are unique, which is why our HAES services are tailored to clients across all age groups. Our therapy sessions aim to foster body positivity, encourage intuitive eating, and promote self-compassion, providing a supportive and nurturing environment for personal growth and well-being.

Our Four-Step Process

  1. Assessment and Goal Setting: Our therapists collaborate with clients and their families to identify challenges related to body image, eating behaviors, and overall health. Together, we set realistic treatment goals and develop a personalized treatment plan aligned with HAES principles.
  2. Body Acceptance and Self-Compassion: We help clients explore and challenge societal expectations and internalized beliefs about body size and shape. Our therapists guide clients in cultivating body acceptance, self-compassion, and a more positive self-image.
  3. Intuitive Eating and Mindful Movement: Our therapists support clients in developing a healthier relationship with food and movement by embracing the principles of intuitive eating and encouraging enjoyable, sustainable physical activities that promote overall well-being.
  4. Review and Integration: Our therapists and clients regularly review progress, address any barriers to success, and integrate the learned skills and perspectives into daily life, fostering lasting change and a healthier relationship with food, body, and self.
