At Resilience DBT & Eating Recovery, Ms. Palmieri is a Staff Clinician and an Approved Clinical Social Work Supervisor for the State of New Jersey. As a Dual Specialist in the Treatment of Eating Disorders and Dialectical Behavior Therapy, she holds a leadership position in our Adolescent Multi-Family DBT Program and DBT-ED Program for Young Adults. At Resilience, we consider Ms. Palmieri to be our “Launching Specialist”, as she has seen many High School students recover from eating disorders and mental health vulnerabilities and go on to have happy and successful college experiences.
As an Eating Disorder practitioner, Kristen works with teens and young adults with the full range of eating disorders – anorexia, bulimia, and binge eating disorder. She is a firm believer in full and complete recovery as the only treatment goal. She advises early intervention and assessment of eating disorders, when prognosis is the best. Kristen received her training in CBT-E for the Treatment of Eating Disorders, from the Credo-Oxford Institute in the United Kingdom, developed by Christopher Fairburn. Ms. Palmieri is experienced with Family Based Treatment for adolescents, and is committed to the empowerment of parents to re-nourish their child, as well as the sibling experience.
As a trained DBT Therapist, Kristen is committed to providing DBT as a comprehensive treatment method and as a prevention tool for emotional dysregulation in adolescents and emerging adults. She is proficient in treating depressive/mood disorders, PTSD, ADHD, and the anxiety disorders, such as social anxiety, generalized anxiety, obsessive compulsive disorder, and panic disorder. Kristen is skilled in providing CBT or
Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy and holds a certificate in Trauma-Based CBT for children and teens.
Ms. Palmieri’s greatest strength as a therapist is her capacity for fostering a strong therapeutic rapport with her clients. She believes building relationships based on trust, transparency, and hope, as essential ingredients for client growth. Kristen provides evidence-based interventions that assist the client in reaching their goals in an empathetic and non-judgmental environment. She believes the most effective way to create change is through collaboration and the utilization of the client’s strengths. As a therapist, Kristen finds great joy in facilitating personal transformation with her adolescent and young adult clients.
